Former president of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain passed away here on Wednesday after a prolonged illness, according to his family and party leaders. He was 80.

Hussain, who was born in Agra in 1940 and migrated with his parents to Pakistan in 1947, served as the 12th President of Pakistan between September 2013 and September 2018.

The Delhi Government granted Covid relief of Rs 5,000 each to 47,996 construction workers on Monday.

The decision came after Deputy Chief Minister and Labour Minister Manish Sisodia issued directions to the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (DBCWB) in this regard.

Sisodia urged all construction workers to get registered with the DBCWB in order to avail the benefits of welfare schemes of the Government. He assured the workers that the Delhi Government would stand with them at all times.

Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday sought suggestions from students, parents and teachers regarding the reopening of schools and other educational institutions in the national Capital.

Sisodia said that the decision regarding reopening of educational institutions in Delhi would be made after taking suggestions from all stakeholders into account.

The Delhi government on Monday said it will provide financial assistance up to Rs 50,000 and a rebate of 10 percent on water bills to encourage people to install rooftop rainwater harvesting systems.

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) had earlier issued guidelines mandating owners of existing and new properties measuring 100 square meters and above to install RWH structures.

"The city government has extended the last date for the implementation of the RWH provisions till December 31, 2021," the water utility said in a statement.

Delhi did not report any new fatality due to Covid-19 in 24 hours while the positivity rate stands at 0.08 per cent, according to a health bulletin issued by the health department of the Delhi Government.

The parents of a nine-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped and murdered in southwest Delhi’s Old Nangal area before being quickly cremated at the behest of the accused, consigned to flames the remaining human tissue and feet of the girl on Wednesday.

Delhi will soon have 500 national flags across the city. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday dedicated a 115 feet high national flag to the people in East Kidwai Nagar on the occasion of 75th India’s Independence Day.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar launched the city's first electric three-wheeler eco system project by flagging off 600 e- auto-rickshaw in Galeria Market area, Sector-28, Gurugram on Monday.

A 35-year-old woman, who was lured on the pretext of providing a job, was allegedly raped by two men inside a car in northeast Delhi’s Shastri Park area. Police said that they have arrested the accused, who are residents of Surajpur in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida. According to a senior police official, the woman was brought to the city on August 16 by the men on the pretext of providing her a job. She reported the incident to the police and based on her complaint, the two men were arrested on the same day.
